Design Wall Monday~April 25

The scrappy Pinwheels are coming along. They are all sewn in pairs, now just to sew those pairs to pairs and sew the rows. That will be done today and that will be that for this donation top. Well maybe I'll find a perfect fabric from my stash and add a border.

Also today, I will finish FMQ my Tumbling Blocks. I've only two borders left to do. I sewed through my finger the other day while stippling. Just wasn't paying attention, going too fast, something. It's the first time I've done that. Ever!  And I know it's an unusual progression, but I have already sewn the binding, machine and hand, on the sides that were quilted, so the binding is half finished.

And thirdly, today I want to start cutting and marking foundation pieces for a Scrappy Spiderweb quilt. That is going to be my next "mindless" scrap project.

I have two suggestions of places to visit today. First, do you need to improve your photos, easily? Visit this blog for great suggestions. This is week five. I'm going to have to go back and check out weeks one through four.

I had played with "fix" when it comes to red eye but not with anything else. It's rather fun and you can get your colors to be more "true" on indoor shots.

And also, I have to give thanks to Judy for sponsoring her website. I'm not much of a blogger but her "Design Wall Monday" at least has me posting once a week.  See more Design Wall inspiration here

Design Wall Monday~April 18

Good Sunny Morning!  I even had to adjust my curtains to allow me to see the monitor screen this morning. I'm not complaining! We need sunshine and warm weather to allow the hay to grow to feed the horses. Not to ignore the fact that sunshine puts everyone in a good mood!

This morning my design wall is more like WIP, work in progess.  I put two quilt tops together this weekend with one still on the wall. AND, the fun part is, I've shopped from my stash and I don't have anything that is just right for the Orange Crazy Nine Patch. And, co-indidentally, I have to take Mom, in Portland, about 45 minutes from me, to a Doctors appointment today sooooo, I will be stopping at Fabric Depot to do a little shopping.  Love that store!  My goal is to stay under $30.00 and that includes a quilt batt.  Thank goodness for 50% off coupons!

So here is the Crazy Nine Patch made with swapped blocks with the Flickr group "Blockwork Orange". What a clever name, huh? I want to give kudo's to Chelsea that organized and managed this huge swap. And it didn't drive her nuts! She is thinking about doing it again!  Or maybe that is nuts! The pattern is from the website below.

And just to show you the other top I completed:

I am much more into getting busy to finish these NEW tops, rather than the older UFO's I've been struggling over.  Maybe these could work as in incentive.

Design Wall Monday~April 11

Here is a quick look at the newest scrap quilt I'm working on. The goal is a block a day...not a whole pinwheel daily, just one quarter.  Wouldn't you like to see some finishes?  Me too! I've been a slacker for about 3 weeks now. It's not that I'm not sewing, stitching (embroidery) or knitting, it's just that I'm not to the finish of anything.  I had better start focusing!

I love doing scrap quilts! No pressure, no cost and it makes me feel very virtuous to use up the strips I've saved for YEARS.  Kinda like the feeling you get when you use up leftovers from your fridge before they become science projects!

Enjoy!

Design Wall Monday~April 4

Good Morning!

I don't know why I've not been sewing much lately. I've had the time, just not the motivation. I think probably because I'm working on UFO's and Bee Blocks and not doing anything for myself with NEW fabric. I wouldn't want to create more UFO's would I?

I am late on my March UFO. The Tumbling Blocks. But I did begin machine quilting it and should have the quilting done today...okay, I've got some things I have to do today, so maybe tomorrow. Then I get to bind it. I DO enjoy the handwork of binding while some people hate it.

My Design Wall...I've put up my bee blocks from the Flickr group "Modern Stash Bee Blocks". You've seen some of them before. But now I have them all. I decided it would be fun to make some standard Churn Dash blocks to add to the mix. I'm pleased with how well they fit right into to the "Liberated" blocks. I have to play with the arrangement, but that's the purpose of the Design Wall, right?

If you would like to do Liberated Churn Dash blocks, visit this website. It's an easy to follow tutorial:
